Global and Taiwan markets see significant capital inflows
Global and regional capital flows showed significant movement in late August. According to BlackRock iShares data for the week of August 22 to August 28, global equity ETFs saw a net inflow of $5.52 billion, reversing a previous week's outflow. Technology ETFs led this trend with $1.6 billion in inflows, followed by small-cap ETFs with $1.53 billion. US equity ETFs were primary beneficiaries, receiving $3.42 billion in net inflows.
In Taiwan, foreign investment reached record levels in August. Net foreign inflows for the month totaled $16.6 billion (approximately NT$525.8 billion), marking a significant rebound for the Taiwan stock market. For the first eight months of the year, cumulative net foreign inflows reached $90.33 billion. Despite high cumulative selling earlier in the year, the total stock of foreign investment has surpassed $400 billion, signaling continued international interest in the region.
