Global art market reaches $59.6 billion in 2025 recovery
The global art market experienced a recovery in 2025, with total sales reaching an estimated $59.6 billion, a 4% increase from 2024. According to the Art Basel and UBS Art Market Report 2026, this growth marks an end to two consecutive years of contraction, though the market remains below its 2022 peak.
Key drivers of this growth include a 9% rise in public auction sales, which reached $20.7 billion, and a 2% increase in dealer and gallery sales, totaling $34.8 billion. Online sales accounted for $9.2 billion. The market remains highly concentrated, with the United States, United Kingdom, and China representing 76% of global market share.
A significant demographic shift is also occurring. Generation Z collectors have emerged as the highest spenders in 2025, with an average expenditure of approximately $347,460—a 19% increase over 2024. Additionally, collectors are increasingly utilizing artificial intelligence and digital tools to inform their purchasing decisions.
