In the music sphere, the Batida genre has emerged from the Lisbon suburbs, rooted in the African diaspora. Developed in the early 2000s by artists such as DJ Marfox, the genre blends Angolan kuduro with electronic techno elements. Characterized by a high tempo of approximately 140 BPM, Batida originated through experimentation with digital production tools and has since expanded from local Lisbon ghettos to alternative club scenes across European capitals.
