Global asset performance shows commodity strength amid AI and inflation concerns

Global asset allocation strategies in 2026 have been driven by commodities, stocks, and technology, though recent momentum has stalled due to inflation fears and geopolitical risks. The WisdomTree GCC Commodity ETF has been a standout performer, rising nearly 26% year-to-date, significantly outperforming US stocks and foreign developed markets, which have seen gains of approximately 12% each.

In the technology sector, interest in artificial intelligence remains high. The Global X Semiconductor ETF reported a 108.4% return over the year ending September 30, while the Betashares Asia Technology Tigers ETF gained 55.5%. However, analysts warn that the AI thematic may be overheating, noting the risk that share prices could outpace the actual profits generated by these investments.

Investment trends also show a strong attraction toward US and global shares. While emerging markets have seen significant returns, experts recommend maintaining diversified foundations across different countries, industries, and currencies to avoid over-reliance on specific market segments or trending themes.
