Automotive industry sees new engine and EV developments
The global automotive sector is seeing significant developments in engine technology, electric vehicles, and new model releases.
Suzuki is developing a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine prototype designed for high thermal efficiency and fuel flexibility, including compatibility with ethanol and biogas. Meanwhile, Honda is expanding its lineup with a refreshed Odyssey in China featuring enhanced cabin technology and a new affordable entry-level variant. Honda is also reportedly evaluating a compact SUV for the Indian market, potentially priced around Rp160 million.
In the electric vehicle space, BYD is advancing its sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao with the Ti 9 crossover, which features a luxury interior and a large 30-inch control screen. Additionally, the second generation of the BYD Atto 1 (Seagull) is being prepared with a shift to rear-wheel drive and improved suspension.
Other market updates include the availability of the 2027 Honda Odyssey in the United States and a growing used car market for the BYD Atto 1 in Indonesia.
