Global beef market reacts to US tariff policy changes

US trade policy regarding beef tariffs is expected to have complex impacts on the global meat market. Analysts from Global AgriTrends suggest that the decision to remove tariffs on 300,000 tonnes of imported beef may fail to lower prices for American consumers and could hinder the growth of the US beef herd by reducing price incentives for producers.

While the policy may benefit exporters in Brazil and Paraguay, New Zealand is positioned to benefit from rising global demand. New Zealand is forecasted to see a 7.8% increase in beef categories next year, leveraging its unique relationship with its dairy herd to rebuild supply quickly. Meanwhile, Australia continues to face supply shortages and processing losses.
