Global billionaire numbers reach record 3,428 in 2026

According to Forbes statistics from March 2026, the global number of billionaires has reached a record 3,428, an increase of over 400 individuals compared to 2025. Total billionaire wealth has hit a historic high of $20.1 trillion, rising by $4 trillion over the previous year. This growth is attributed to booming investments in artificial intelligence, vibrant financial markets, and rising technology valuations.

- United States: Leads with 989 billionaires holding $8.4 trillion in assets. Elon Musk remains the world's richest person, with his wealth estimated at $926 billion. - China: Ranks second with 539 billionaires and $2.2 trillion in assets, driven by AI and consumer goods. Zhang Yiming, co-founder of ByteDance, is China's wealthiest individual. - India: Holds the third position with 229 billionaires and $1 trillion in total assets, supported by strong stock market growth.
