Global billionaire wealth reaches $15.1 trillion

According to Altrata’s Billionaire Census 2026, the global billionaire population has reached 3,795 individuals, controlling a record $15.1 trillion in collective wealth. This represents a 12.8% increase in wealth over a single year, driven in part by the economic boom in artificial intelligence. While the average billionaire fortune is approximately $4 billion, the median stands at $2 billion, highlighting significant wealth concentration. The report notes an increasing trend in the allocation of capital toward ‘passion assets,’ including luxury cars, yachts, jewelry, art, and sports.

In Scotland, this concentration of wealth is reflected in land ownership. Approximately 50% of the country’s rural land is controlled by just 421 owners. This structure, rooted in historical feudal systems, has persisted through various social and political shifts. Modern international billionaires and investment funds have increasingly acquired these lands, drawn by the country’s legal stability.
