Global box office sees major milestones with Spider-Man and Welcome to Long Restaurant

The global film industry is seeing significant box office milestones in 2026. Spider-Man: Rebirth has become a massive commercial success, earning $2.22 billion globally. This performance places it sixth in all-time global box office rankings, nearing the totals of Titanic and Nezha. In North America, the film has reached $854.9 million, making it the third highest-grossing Spider-Man film in the region and the most successful film in Sony Pictures' history.

In China, the anti-war film Welcome to Long Restaurant, starring Shen Teng, has achieved rapid success. Within 13 days of its release, the film surpassed 1.5 billion yuan in total box office, entering the top five highest-grossing films of the year in mainland China. The film, based on true events, follows a chef's journey in a Middle Eastern capital during wartime.

Other notable performances include The Odyssey, which has become the highest-grossing R-rated film globally, and the independent horror film Love You to Death, which has crossed the $500 million mark worldwide.
