Global Climate Study Projects 1.37°C Rise by 2025 and Warns of 1.5°C Threshold

A new scientific assessment published in the journal Earth System Science Data predicts that global average temperature will reach 1.37 °C above pre‑industrial levels by 2025 and could surpass the critical 1.5 °C limit around 2030. The report, authored by more than 70 scientists from 56 institutions in 17 countries, highlights a doubling of the planet’s energy imbalance since the 1970s and records a new peak of 56.8 Gt CO₂‑equivalent emissions in 2024. It also notes that marine heat‑wave days have more than tripled since 1991, with 65 such days recorded in 2025.

Separately, a commentary stresses that climate‑related sustainability must move from rhetoric to concrete management. It argues that businesses and public administrations need to embed climate goals into strategy, budgeting, governance and performance measurement, rather than treating sustainability as a decorative or reputational layer. The piece calls for rigorous data, planning, monitoring and accountability to turn commitments into measurable outcomes.
