Global commodity markets see shifts in wool and urea prices
Global agricultural commodity markets are seeing shifts in wool and fertilizer pricing. In the wool sector, the Eastern Market Indicator (IME) in Australia fell to AUS 18.19, approximately US$ 12.68 per kilo, driven by increased supply and selective demand, particularly affecting Merino fleeces. In Uruguay, the market saw specific transactions for certified fine lots, with prices reaching around US$ 13.53 per clean kilo base.
In the fertilizer market, urea prices in Argentina have reached import parity, with wholesale prices trading between 610 and 620 US dollars per ton. This follows a period of volatility influenced by China's approval of a fourth round of urea export quotas, which has slowed international buying interest and caused a downward turn in nitrogenous fertilizer prices globally. In the United States, urea barge prices also saw a significant decline, reaching between 430 and 445 US dollars per short ton FOB.
