Global Consumers Shift Toward Solar Power

A recent Ipsos Energy Transition Barometer survey covering 31 countries found that two‑thirds of respondents now support renewable energy and storage, with solar panels increasingly preferred over fossil‑fuel generation. The data show that three‑quarters of people worldwide are worried about rising energy costs, and half have cut back on other essentials to afford electricity.

Around 60% of those surveyed back greater energy independence, while 70% express anxiety about reliance on imported fuel and geopolitical volatility. These concerns are driving a marked consumer move toward rooftop solar installations as a means to lower bills and secure a stable power supply.

The findings suggest that economic security, rather than environmental motives alone, is now the primary driver of public demand for solar energy, putting pressure on policymakers and utilities to accelerate renewable adoption.
