Polish złty weakens against US dollar and euro

The Polish złty experienced significant losses against major currencies on September 22, 2026. The US dollar rose toward the 3.80 PLN level, driven by deteriorating market sentiment and Brent crude oil prices remaining above 100 USD per barrel due to Middle East tensions.

The euro also gained strength, approaching the 4.35 PLN mark. This movement is attributed to hawkish stances from both the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank, with rising energy costs potentially prompting the ECB to maintain or increase interest rates.

Other major currency pairs also saw shifts, with the Swiss franc testing 4.62 PLN and the British pound reaching 5.07 PLN. The Swiss franc continues to be viewed by investors as a ‘safe haven’ currency.
