Global currency markets and Swedish investment firms show extreme volatility

Global currency markets in 2026 have experienced significant volatility, with a 20 percent variance between the strongest and weakest currencies against the US dollar. The Colombian peso (COP) has emerged as the top performer among 36 analyzed currencies, while Latin America shows extreme polarization in market performance.

In the Swedish investment company sector, a widening gap has emerged between top performers and those facing declines. Companies such as Investor and Industrivärden have seen significant growth, with Industrivärden delivering a 31 percent total return and shifting from a discount to a premium valuation.

Conversely, companies like Latour, Kinnevik, and VNV Global have struggled. Latour has seen its valuation shift from a 5 percent premium to a 7 percent discount relative to its net asset value, partly due to a decline in its underlying substance value and a dampened construction industry.
