Global Cybercrime Costs Projected to Exceed $12 Trillion by 2031

Cybersecurity analysts estimate that worldwide cybercrime expenses will rise from $10.5 trillion annually in 2025 to $12.2 trillion by 2031. Daily ransomware damage is already around $156.2 million and is expected to climb to more than $726 million per day within six years, according to data compiled by StationX founder Nathan House.

A recent StationX calculator example shows a medium‑size manufacturing firm could face $1.46 million in ransomware losses and about 100 days of recovery. The same source also published a list of the 25 biggest cyber attacks in history, ranging from the Yahoo breach to the Colonial Pipeline incident, highlighting the growing use of AI for phishing and malware creation and warning that future quantum computing could undermine current encryption methods.
