Global Data Solutions targeted by fraudulent job recruitment scam

Global Data Solutions reported a fraudulent job scam where scammers used the company’s legal name and a real employee's identity on the Indeed platform to target internship candidates. The scammers requested that candidates resubmit resumes to an external Outlook address and subsequently demanded payment for a “reimbursable certification” to proceed with the hiring process.

While the company confirmed that no internal systems were breached and no passwords were leaked, the incident highlights a growing trend of recruitment fraud. Common variants of these scams include advance fee requests, task-based scams, email password theft, and the use of malware during technical tests.

In a related development, the Civil Police of the Federal District recently executed a warrant against a scheme in Brazlândia that charged individuals to secure non-existent jobs, resulting in the seizure of documents and personal data from 30 victims. Febraban has also issued formal alerts regarding these types of employment scams.
