Global demonstrations held for International Day of Peace and Democracy

On September 21, 2026, demonstrations were held in France and Morocco to observe international days dedicated to peace and democracy.

In Montceau-les-Mines, France, approximately 80 people gathered to observe the International Day of Peace. Participants called for global solidarity and justice, criticizing the militarization of the economy and the impact of ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Iran, and Ukraine. Activists from groups such as Femmes Solidaires and ARAC advocated for increased female representation in security policy, the prohibition of nuclear weapons, and the withdrawal of NATO.

In Rabat, Morocco, the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH) organized a protest in front of Parliament to mark the International Day of Democracy. Under the slogan ‘No democracy without freedom,’ demonstrators demanded the release of political, opinion, and social movement detainees. The mobilization also highlighted social concerns, with protesters linking democratic freedoms to the necessity of improved access to education and healthcare.
