Global destinations expand autumn and Halloween tourism

Global destinations are increasingly leveraging autumn and Halloween-themed events to drive seasonal tourism. In Europe, Ireland and Romania are leading a competitive race for visitor spending, with Ireland’s Púca Festival generating significant local economic boosts through its connection to ancient Samhain traditions. Romania utilizes Transylvania’s Gothic imagery and Dracula associations to attract travelers.

In the United States, St. Helens, Oregon, has emerged as a standout destination for 2026, challenging established locations like Orlando and Salem. Atlanta is also hosting major seasonal events, such as the Little Five Points Halloween Festival and Parade, which features a parade themed around ‘Cryptids, Creatures and Community Legends’.

Other regions are diversifying their autumn offerings. Montreal is combining cinema festivals and digital innovation weeks with seasonal attractions like the Gardens of Light. Meanwhile, Hungary is promoting autumn experiences ranging from pumpkin festivals in Dunatetétlen to themed activities in the Buda Mountains, highlighting the shift toward experiential and immersive seasonal travel.
