Global e-commerce trends show rising saturation and MENA regional growth

Global e-commerce markets are experiencing increased saturation and fragmentation, necessitating more integrated digital strategies. Front Row Group notes that brands must now coordinate marketplace management, media, content, and technology to maintain cohesive customer experiences amidst the rise of artificial intelligence and evolving consumer behaviors.

In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, e-commerce adoption is accelerating significantly. According to the MENA Digital Commerce 2026 report by Checkout.com, 45% of consumers in the region shop online weekly or more frequently. In Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE, this figure reaches 50%. In Saudi Arabia, 12% of consumers make multiple online purchases daily, doubling the rate seen in 2020.

Social commerce is also gaining momentum in the region. In the UAE, 25% of consumers utilize platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram for shopping, while in Saudi Arabia, the figure has risen to 26%. Looking ahead, 63% of MENA consumers expect to increase their online shopping frequency over the next 12 months, particularly among middle-aged adults and high-income brackets.
