Global economic trends show rising US yields and cooling French industry
Global economic indicators show mixed trends across major markets. In the United States, bond yields rose following Donald Trump’s proposal of $5,000 checks to citizens, contingent on Republican control of Congress. Meanwhile, BNP Paribas economist Paul Hollingsworth suggested markets may be underestimating the scale of monetary tightening by the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan.
In Europe, Deutsche Bank predicts that UK inflation in August will exceed Bank of England forecasts, citing higher-than-expected gasoline prices and potential extreme weather impacts. In France, industrial production fell by 0.4% in July, missing consensus expectations and increasing downside risks for the Eurozone manufacturing sector following similar declines in Germany.
In Asia, BofA Securities maintains a 4.5% GDP growth forecast for China in 2026, noting that while domestic demand shows warning signs, supply-side production is expected to slow gradually. Taiwan reported solid export growth of 41.0% year-on-year in August, supported by the ongoing artificial intelligence boom.
