Global economy projected to exceed $150 trillion by 2030
The global economy is projected to exceed $150 trillion in nominal GDP by 2030, according to forecasts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The United States and China are expected to maintain their positions as the world’s largest economies, with projected nominal GDPs of $37.7 trillion and $26 trillion, respectively.
A close competition is anticipated for the third position between Germany and India, with projected figures of $6.18 trillion and $6.17 trillion. While the US and China remain the dominant leaders, the economic weight is shifting toward Asia and the Middle East, which are expected to account for over one-third of the global economic output by 2030.
Growth in these regions is expected to be driven significantly by China and India, which together are projected to contribute 70% of regional growth. The IMF notes that while energy shocks may burden importers, demand for artificial intelligence is expected to bolster countries integrated into the global technology supply chain.
