Global efforts intensify to address rising cybersecurity threats

In Cameroon, the National Information and Communication Technologies Agency (Antic) has partnered with the Russian Embassy and Kaspersky to address rising cybersecurity threats. This move follows reports of significant financial losses due to cyberattacks, with over 17,500 complaints and 21,280 compromised machines recorded in 2025. The partnership has raised concerns regarding digital sovereignty and potential geopolitical vulnerabilities due to the reliance on Russian technology.

Meanwhile, Canada is strengthening its cyber resilience through public-private partnerships. As part of the 2025 National Cybersecurity Strategy, Public Safety Canada and the Communications Security Establishment held the first in-person meeting of the Canadian Cyber Defence Collective Strategic Forum in Ottawa. The forum brings together leaders from the IT, energy, food, and transport sectors to coordinate defenses against evolving threats, including those involving artificial intelligence.
