Global Empowerment Mission delivers earthquake relief to Venezuela
Following a pair of earthquakes on June 24, thousands of families in Venezuela have received humanitarian aid consisting of food, water, and hygiene products. The relief effort is being led by the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), an American humanitarian organization, in collaboration with local Venezuelan groups such as I Love Venezuela.
The United States government, through the Department of State, has also participated in the mobilization of supplies, working alongside GEM and Walmart to deliver aid to affected communities. The relief kits include long-lasting food items such as canned goods, beans, sardines, tuna, pasta, canned chicken, corn, and dehydrated food rations. Additionally, the kits contain hygiene essentials including toothpaste, toothbrushes, wet wipes, sanitary pads, and shampoo.
In areas like Catia La Mar, residents reported long queues as they waited for supplies from GEM trucks. This assistance arrives at a time when the traditional CLAP food distribution program has ceased operations, leaving many families facing uncertainty regarding food and water security following the seismic events.
