Space technology stocks face sector-wide pressure from profit-taking
The aerospace and space technology sector is experiencing significant market volatility. AST SpaceMobile shares fell 7.5 percent to 50.60 euros following sector-wide profit-taking, even as the broader S&P 500 remained stable. This decline was mirrored by other industry players, including Rocket Lab, as investors realized gains after recent price increases. A specialized space industry ETF (UFO) dropped approximately 2 percent.
Despite the market downturn, AST SpaceMobile reported operational progress, including securing a new US patent for thermal management technology for its satellite arrays. The company is also advancing its infrastructure, with production underway for its BlueBird satellite series following the successful launch of units 11 through 13.
In separate institutional activity, Nykredit A S acquired 320,673 shares of Rocket Lab Corporation in the second quarter, a stake valued at approximately $32.6 million.
