Global ESG compliance standards rise in electronics and UAE markets
The demand for robust Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) transparency is increasing globally, affecting various sectors and regional markets. In the United Arab Emirates, specifically in Dubai, businesses are facing rising pressure from regulators, investors, and the public to disclose sustainability performance and comply with evolving local regulatory environments.
In the electronics sector, the Global Electronics Association has introduced the IPC-1401B ESG Management System Standard. This framework is designed to help manufacturers demonstrate measurable ESG performance across their operations and supply chains. Developed with input from hundreds of companies, including Foxconn, Huawei, Fujifilm, and ZTE, the standard is compatible with existing international systems like ISO 14001 and GRI. It aims to integrate ESG considerations into business functions such as procurement, R&D, and logistics to meet changing market and investor expectations.
