Global experts address rising obesity and diabetes challenges

International health experts are convening to address the escalating global crisis of obesity and diabetes. At the Global Obesity Forum in Madrid, representatives from various sectors, including the World Obesity Federation and the Spanish Obesity Society, discussed the need for stronger political and sanitary responses to combat these chronic diseases.

In Ecuador, health data reveals that one in nine people lives with diabetes, while 63.6% of the adult population is overweight or obese. To address these figures, the National Summit on Innovation in Obesity and Diabetes will be held in Quito on October 22. The summit aims to move from diagnosis to action by analyzing epidemiological impacts, improving primary care, and developing public policies to ensure comprehensive treatment for those affected.
