Global Fight League announces debut MMA event in Buenos Aires

The Global Fight League (GFL) has announced its inaugural event will take place on December 18 at Club Atlético Lanús in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The promotion will utilize a team-based format, featuring a matchup between the Buenos Aires Gauchos and the Miami Monsters.

While the full fight card has not been released, former UFC title contender Marlon Moraes has been confirmed as a member of the Miami Monsters roster. The organization, founded by former World Series of Fighting executive Darren Owen, has previously attracted interest through associations with high-profile fighters such as Tyron Woodley, Chris Weidman, and Holly Holm.

This announcement follows the cancellation of two previously scheduled events in May 2025. The organization has faced scrutiny regarding its financial transparency, with veteran fighter Urijah Faber previously suggesting that the project's funding may have been misrepresented. Despite these setbacks, GFL leadership stated they remain committed to their vision for the promotion.
