Global flea markets offer diverse shopping and cultural experiences

Various flea markets around the world offer unique shopping experiences, ranging from historic sites to local charity events.

In Beijing, the Panjiayuan Ghost Market operates in the early morning hours on weekends. Historically linked to the late imperial era when impoverished noble families sold valuables under the cover of darkness, the market now attracts collectors of antiques, traditional ceramics, jewelry, and incense equipment.

Bangkok hosts the Chatuchak Weekend Market, recognized as the world’s largest weekend market. It features approximately 15,000 stalls across 26 sections, offering everything from street food and designer fashion to exotic plants, and can attract up to 300,000 visitors in a single day.

In Plankstadt, Germany, the Welde Brauerei will host an outdoor flea market on September 24, 2026. The event features brewery treasures, including glassware, merchandise, and old festival inventory. Half of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Lebenshilfe Heidelberg.
