Global GDP per capita projections for 2026 show rise of Singapore and Ireland

Projections from the International Monetary Fund’s World Economic Outlook indicate that the world's wealthiest nations by GDP per capita in 2026 will largely consist of small states located in Europe and Asia.

Singapore is projected to reach second place globally with a GDP per capita of $173,708, driven by competitive semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries. Ireland is expected to rank third, benefiting from the presence of multinational technology and financial giants. Liechtenstein remains a top performer, having led rankings since 2006.

Other notable economic shifts include the transformation of Guyana, fueled by the discovery of natural oil resources.
