Global Gold ETFs Lose $8.9 B in June as Markets Await Fed Minutes

The World Gold Council reports that physically‑backed global gold exchange‑traded funds saw net withdrawals of $8.9 billion in June, pushing total assets under management down 13 % to $526 billion. Physical gold holdings in those funds fell by 74 tons to 4,047 tons. Despite the June outflow, the first half of the year recorded net inflows of about $8 billion, driven by strong Asian participation and continued European interest, while North America posted a net loss.

At the same time, spot gold prices are trading just above $4,100 per ounce, and in Turkey gram gold is quoted at 6,207 lira and quarter gold at 10,038 lira. Investors are focusing on the Federal Reserve’s upcoming FOMC minutes, which are expected to shape expectations for U.S. interest‑rate policy. Geopolitical tension between the United States and Iran is also affecting safe‑haven demand for gold.

Technical analysis notes that gold remains below its 200‑day moving average, with a key support level near $4,100 per ounce and resistance around $4,300. Any breach of these levels could guide short‑term price direction.
