Global Guardian 2027 Risk Map identifies high-risk travel zones
The US-based security firm Global Guardian has released its Global Risk Map for 2027, highlighting significant shifts in travel safety. The assessment evaluates factors such as crime, armed conflict, political stability, and infrastructure. Under this new mapping, Iran is classified as an ‘Extreme Risk’ destination, while Ecuador is labeled ‘High Risk’.
In the Middle East, geopolitical tensions continue to impact travel. The ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran has reached its 215th day, causing notable disruptions to air traffic in the Gulf region. Specific risks include airspace closures and potential flight cancellations in the Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Additionally, Houthi attacks on Saudi cities and export facilities in the Red Sea contribute to an unstable environment for travelers.
The 2027 map introduces more granular data by distinguishing between urban and rural safety within the same country. Global Guardian advises against non-essential travel to areas marked as ‘High’ or ‘Extreme’ risk.
