Global health awareness focuses on mental health and preventive medical screenings

World Mental Health Day is observed annually on October 10 to raise awareness and advocate for mental health support globally. Established in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) and supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), the day serves as a platform for governments, healthcare providers, and communities to address unmet service needs. The theme for 2026 is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.”

In a separate health advisory, Dr. Ray Wagiu Basrowi, founder of the Healthy Collaborative Center, warned against the risks of delaying medical check-ups due to lifestyle downgrades or economic constraints. He emphasized that many conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes, often develop without symptoms. Dr. Wagiu urged the public to utilize free health check-up programs to ensure early detection and prevent serious complications.
