Global industrial robot installations reach 542,000 in 2024 as market expands

The International Federation of Robotics reported that 542,000 industrial robots were newly installed worldwide in 2024, marking the fourth consecutive year that annual sales exceeded 500,000 units. Analysts expect 2025 installations to remain between 520,000 and 550,000, pushing the total active stock of industrial robots to 4.3‑4.5 million units.

In the service‑robot segment, more than 199,000 units were sold in 2024, while medical robot sales jumped 91 % to roughly 16,700 systems. Consumer‑robot sales continue to scale, with 21‑23 million units sold each year. Growth is projected to stay strong in logistics, healthcare and agricultural technology, with two‑digit increases anticipated. Early 2026 indicators from Asia, Europe and North America show stable demand, especially for autonomous and humanoid platforms, and venture‑capital investment in robotics and embodied AI remains high.
