Global inflation trends: Nigeria, Pakistan, and Bhutan report mixed CPI data
Inflationary trends show divergent patterns across Nigeria, Pakistan, and Bhutan.
In Nigeria, the headline inflation rate slowed to 15.43% in July 2026, down from 15.91% in June. However, food inflation surged to 20.31%, a new 11-month high, driven by rising costs for staples such as rice, beef, and eggs. Core inflation reached its lowest level since January 2025 at 14.97%.
Pakistan is projected to see inflation rise to a range of 10.75% to 11.25% in August 2026, up from 9.2% in July. This increase is expected to be driven by food price hikes and rising transport costs due to international fuel price volatility.
In Bhutan, the annual inflation rate climbed to 6.83% in July 2026. While monthly price movements were modest, year-on-year increases were fueled by both food and non-food sectors, with non-food prices rising by 8.16%.
