Global inflation trends show varying slowdowns in Bangladesh, Burundi, and Bolivia
Several nations are reporting shifts in inflation rates, though economic stability varies by region.
In Bangladesh, overall inflation eased slightly to 8.26 percent in August, down from 8.32 percent in July. This decline was primarily driven by lower food inflation, which fell to 7.02 percent. However, non-food inflation saw an increase to 9.32 percent during the same period.
Burundi has seen a significant drop in annual inflation, falling to 8.7 percent in July 2026 from a peak of 45.5 percent in April 2025. While budget discipline and increased export receipts have contributed to the slowdown, high costs for fuel and food persist, and a large gap remains between official and parallel exchange rates.
Bolivia is experiencing a sharp slowdown in inflation, with year-to-date figures through August 2026 at 3.01 percent, compared to 18.09 percent during the same period last year. Despite this trend, monthly rates were impacted by rising chicken prices due to poultry farm restocking delays, and concerns remain regarding fuel shortages and currency devaluation.
