Global initiatives expand electric vehicle fleets in Paraguay and Spain

In commemoration of World Electric Vehicle Day, various regional initiatives are advancing electric mobility to reduce carbon footprints.

In Paraguay, Itaipú is promoting sustainable transport through the TASK Auto Parts Center, a collaborative project between the governments of South Korea and Paraguay. As part of a pilot plan, three electric buses were donated to the municipality of Hernandarias for urban passenger transport. Additionally, Itaipú has integrated electric buses into its own fleet for visitor transport and provided vehicles to the Itaipú Technological Park. To support the local industry, ten individuals are currently undergoing specialized technical training in South Korea focused on electric vehicle part production.

In Spain, the city of Salamanca has doubled its ecological municipal fleet over the last five years. Currently, 75% of the city's municipal vehicle fleet holds the ECO label from the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT). Key achievements include the total electrification of the urban bus fleet and the transition of 99% of municipal cleaning vehicles to eco-friendly models. The local police force has also expanded its operations with 28 new ecological vehicles to improve air quality and reduce noise pollution.
