Global IPO volumes surge despite fewer listings as Swedish firms report cautious recovery
Global IPO activity in the third quarter of 2026 saw a decrease in the total number of listings, yet capital raising volumes surged by 79 percent to 93.3 billion dollars. This growth was largely driven by the technology sector, which accounted for 67.4 percent of total emissions. Major deals included SK Hynix on Nasdaq, CXMT in Shanghai, and Zhongji Innolight in Hong Kong, which together represented approximately 47 percent of the quarter's global volume.
Regional trends varied significantly. In China, both the number of listings and emission volumes increased, with China leading the three major markets in total volume. Conversely, the US saw fewer listings but a more than doubled emission volume, while Europe experienced more listings but lower capital raising compared to the previous year.
In Sweden, a report from Innovationsföretagen indicates that while business confidence remains, economic recovery is slower than anticipated. Although 56 percent of member companies expect improved order volumes in the coming half-year, recruitment plans have become more cautious. Only 34 percent of companies increased their workforce over the last six months, falling short of the 56 percent originally expected.
