Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum opens in Macau
The 2026 Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum (GLSTF) opened at the Galaxy International Convention Center in Macau. Co-hosted by the Macau Special Administrative Region's IPIM and the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the two-day event focuses on “Innovation and Transformation – Pursuing Avenues for Resilient and Sustainable Global Timber Industries.”
The forum has gathered approximately 800 participants from 49 countries and regions across six continents. The event includes over 30 exhibition booths showcasing sustainable raw timber, wood products, furniture, and digital technologies. Discussions aim to address global challenges such as climate change, market volatility, and the need for supply chain transparency and legality.
Key participants include government officials, industry leaders, and international organizations. Notably, Ivan Tomaselli, president of STCP, participated as a speaker, addressing the impacts of economic, regulatory, and geopolitical shifts on timber markets. Additionally, the Thai Overseas Chinese Industry Promotion Association engaged in business signings regarding blockchain-based timber traceability platforms to optimize supply chains between Thailand and China.
