Global markets react to Trump-Putin energy deal skepticism

Markets are questioning a reported agreement between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin regarding the flow of millions of barrels of diesel from Russia to the United States and other economies. Doubts have surfaced due to reported shortages in Russia caused by decreased production at refineries hit by strikes.

Geopolitical tensions continue to impact energy prices, with Brent crude oil exceeding $100 per barrel as Houthi rebel activity disrupts navigation in the Suez Canal, affecting oil flows to Europe.

In the financial sector, bond yields remain high, pressuring the United States, France, Italy, and Japan to adopt stricter fiscal policies. In Europe, refinancing needs are projected to reach €4.8 trillion by 2030. IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has urged the French government to reduce its budget deficit to prevent rising risk premiums on sovereign debt.

Despite the end of the era of cheap money, markets show resilience. S&P 500 corporate profits are expected to increase by 30%, and the IMF estimates global economic growth will reach 3.4% by 2027, supported by advancements in artificial intelligence and China's interest in unimpeded trade.
