Global markets show mixed results as Wall Street gains and Zagreb rises

Wall Street saw slight gains on Thursday following three days of declines, despite volatile trading driven by fluctuations in oil prices and bond yields. The Dow Jones rose 0.04 percent, the S&P 500 increased 0.20 percent, and the Nasdaq grew 0.04 percent. Initial market weakness was triggered by a 4 percent surge in oil prices due to heightened US-Iran tensions, raising inflation fears and pressure on bond yields. However, markets recovered after Federal Reserve Vice Chair Philip Jefferson suggested the central bank should remain patient regarding interest rate hikes. Markets now estimate less than a 30 percent chance of a rate increase in October.

On the Zagreb Stock Exchange, the Crobex index rose 0.07 percent and the Crobex10 increased 0.12 percent, marking a fourth consecutive day of growth. Končar dominated trading activity, accounting for nearly 1.3 million euros of the 2.2 million euro total turnover. Other notable movements included gains for Atlantic Grupa and Valamar Riviera, while Luka Rijeka saw a decline of 2.26 percent.
