Global media and entertainment revenues to reach $4.2 trillion by 2030
The global entertainment and media industry is projected to reach $4.2 trillion in revenue by 2030, according to the PwC Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2026-30. This represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.4%.
Advertising is expected to be the fastest-growing segment, with revenues forecasted to reach $1.4 trillion by 2030. This growth is driven by AI-powered hyper-personalization and real-time creative solutions, which allow for more targeted advertising and higher costs per mille (CPM). Advertising is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.6%, outpacing consumer spending growth, which is expected at 2.5%.
In contrast, the connectivity segment—which includes internet access fees—is expected to see slower growth, with a projected CAGR of 2.3%, rising from $1.3 trillion in 2025 to $1.5 trillion by 2030. The expansion of the sector will be largely fueled by digital ecosystems, with the internet advertising market alone seeing significant acceleration.
