Global Millionaire Count Hits 25.3 Million as Wealth Surges to $98.3 Trillion

Capgemini’s 2025 World Wealth Report shows the global pool of people with at least US$1 million in investable assets grew by 7.9 % to 25.3 million, adding roughly two million new millionaires compared with 2024. The aggregate wealth of this group reached a historic $98.3 trillion, an 8.7 % increase and the strongest annual gain since 2018.

The report attributes the surge to strong equity markets, especially technology stocks boosted by artificial‑intelligence enthusiasm, and slower inflation. The United States generated the largest absolute rise, with 736 000 new millionaires and a total of 8.7 million. Japan and China also posted sizable gains, adding 436 000 and 154 000 new millionaires respectively. In Europe, Germany’s millionaire count rose 11.1 % to 1.78 million, placing it third worldwide behind the US and Japan. The Asia‑Pacific region recorded the fastest growth rate at 9.4 %.

Wealth remains highly concentrated: the top 1 % of individuals own 34.8 % of the total $98.3 trillion. Africa, Latin America and the Middle East saw modest changes, with the latter experiencing a slight decline linked to lower oil prices.
