Global outage disrupts Facebook, Messenger and Instagram services
Users of Meta's platforms reported widespread problems on Friday afternoon, with Facebook’s news feed, Messenger chats and Instagram stories failing to load. The disruption began around 16:00 and quickly spread to multiple regions.
DownDetector recorded hundreds of reports from numerous countries, including Greece and Denmark, confirming the scale of the outage. Millions of users were unable to access their accounts, and Meta has not yet issued an official statement explaining the cause.
The incident highlights the dependence on Meta’s services for daily communication and content sharing, as users worldwide sought alternative ways to stay connected while the platforms remained offline.
