Global pharmaceutical market growth projected to reach $2.6 trillion by 2030

According to a study by IQVIA, the global pharmaceutical market is projected to see significant growth through 2030. Total drug consumption is estimated to reach 4 trillion daily doses, with pharmaceutical spending expected to exceed $2.6 trillion, growing at an annual rate of 5% to 8%.

Growth is expected to be driven by four key therapeutic categories: oncology, immunology, diabetes, and obesity. Much of this increase is attributed to the use of innovative therapies in developed markets. While high-income regions such as North America, Western Europe, and Japan are expected to show slower, stabilizing growth characteristic of mature healthcare systems, China is identified as the fastest-growing market, with drug use potentially doubling by 2030.

Research indicates that 76% of global market growth will stem from 14 developed nations and the United States. The shift toward more expensive treatments reflects broader trends in patient access to high-cost, innovative medications.
