Global protests demand end to arms trade and support for Palestine

A coordinated international mobilization involving over 200 organizations across more than 60 countries took place between October 9 and 11 to express solidarity with the Palestinian people. The campaign, led by the Global Alliance for Palestine, utilizes street protests, academic debates, and cultural initiatives to demand protection for Palestinians and accountability under international law.

In Paris, more than 6,000 people gathered to demand an end to arms trade with Israel, sanctions against the Israeli state, and the termination of agreements between the European Union and Israel. Demonstrators also highlighted recent actions by airport unions in Roissy to prevent the transfer of military equipment to Israel.

In Latin America, widespread mobilizations were organized in major cities including Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Lima, Quito, and São Paulo. These efforts involve a diverse range of actors, including labor unions, student movements, and civil society organizations, reflecting a significant political and cultural shift regarding the conflict in the region.
