Global Rescue survey identifies overpacking as top travel error
A new survey by Global Rescue, titled 'Traveller Sentiment and Safety', identifies overpacking as the most frequent avoidable mistake made by international travelers. According to the data, 38 percent of experienced travelers currently cite excessive luggage as their primary error, an increase from 32 percent in 2025 and 35 percent in 2024.
Despite the recent increase in reported errors, the issue is significantly lower than in February 2020, when 74 percent of travelers identified excessive luggage as their biggest nuisance. Dan Richards, CEO of The Global Rescue Companies, noted that overpacking remains a common habit that adds unnecessary stress, weight, and complexity to trips.
