Global Rescue Survey Shows Shift to Authentic Travel Experiences
A recent Global Rescue survey of travelers reveals a growing preference for authentic, once‑in‑a‑lifetime experiences, with 68% of respondents indicating increased interest in such trips. At the same time, 66% say they are more drawn to quiet, low‑crowd destinations, a trend dubbed “JOMO” (Joy of Missing Out).
Interest in the high‑tempo “YOLO” (You Only Live Once) style of travel remains steady at 29%, while demand for densely scheduled “FOMO” (Fear of Missing Out) itineraries is declining, with only 15% showing greater interest and 27% reporting reduced interest. The shift reflects travelers’ desire for relaxation, personal value and deeper connection with places, rather than chasing popular photo‑ops. Euronews notes the waning appeal of over‑packed travel programs.
