Global ski tourism trends show rising interest in Europe and luxury resort developments

Winter travel trends show a significant shift in ski tourism, with Americans increasingly booking trips to Europe. Research from Ski.com indicates European bookings have risen 72 percent year-over-year, with Italy seeing a surge of over 500 percent driven by interest in the Milano-Cortina Olympics. Canada has seen a 65 percent increase, while Japan has seen a 40 percent rise in bookings.

In terms of luxury developments, the Chalet Grand Chariot, designed by London-based studio Spinocchia Freund, has been completed in Courchevel, France. The 30,000 sq ft residence features ski-in, ski-out access and is designed to balance a private home feel with five-star hotel amenities through the use of timber, stone, and bespoke furnishings.

In the United States, Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah has expanded its offerings with the opening of the Inn at Sundance. The new facility provides 63 ski-in, ski-out rooms, marking a shift for the resort which previously lacked large-scale hotel accommodations.
