Global snacking trends reshape traditional eating habits
Global food trends are shifting away from traditional, structured meals toward a culture of snacking. According to food specialist Karin Tischer, snacking has evolved from a quick fix for hunger into a primary way of eating that adapts to individual daily activities rather than fixed schedules.
Several factors are driving this change. Economic considerations play a role, as consumers may choose smaller, more affordable snacks over full restaurant meals. Additionally, the rising use of weight-loss injections is contributing to the trend; in the United States, approximately 12 percent of the population uses these treatments, which can reduce appetite and the desire for large meals. In Germany, usage is lower at around 2 to 3 percent but shows an increasing trend.
