Global South movements organize day of Indigenous and Black resistance

Activists and organizations from the Global South are organizing a day of resistance for Indigenous, Black, and popular communities on October 12. The initiative aims to unite various groups, including peasant organizations, climate collectives, feminist movements, and human rights defenders, under the slogans ‘The Global South Resists!’ and ‘Mesoamerica Resists!’

This movement builds upon networks established by AntiCOP in 2024, which have fostered solidarity and communication between diverse peoples and movements. The organizers highlight a recent journey through Mexico—including the Yaqui, Purépecha, Nahua, and Otomí territories—as well as Central America and the Brazilian Amazon, to demonstrate that these local struggles against common threats are interconnected.
